This coastal renovation asked for an array of design considerations – mixing traditional and modern styles, changing flooring footprints and hiding a multitude of appliances. The original floor plan was a U shaped kitchen and our clients liked the idea of an island to create an open flow. With no extra floor tiles, a tile border was designed around the timber veneer island to create a visual distance between the existing & new (closely matched) tiles. A wall of joinery with shadowline handle detail hides the integrated fridge / freezer, coffee machine and microwave, with a separate cabinet for toaster, kettle and other small appliances.
