It’s a common question – “My new kitchen looks amazing – but how do I keep my stone benchtops looking beautiful?”
Regular cleaning is important to guard against the build up of potentially damaging influences. It is advisable to reserve cleaning cloths exclusively for use on your stone finishes.
Often we use honed marble or granite as a benchtop surface (this gives a matt finish rather than a highly polished one). Clear surface spray and hot soapy water are recommended for cleaning.
Honed finishes and most marble tops will usually require surface sealing – this should be reapplied every seven years to promote the life of the stone.
Always clean with a damp cloth. To remove stubborn dirt or food scraps use either warm soapy water or a sharp razor blade to remove gently and carefully.
